Art Club!: Sketching the Human Head for Middle Schoolers
Thursday April 23, 2020
11:15am – 12:00pm – Live via Zoom!

Pull out a piece of paper and a pencil and hang with Julie from the Carnegie Center in this live class, Sketching the Human Head. During this 45-minute art lesson, Julie will show you her personal method for sketching a person’s head, shoulders, and facial features. The methods in this lesson will give you tips for life drawing (drawing a person’s portrait from life–not from a photograph) but you don’t have to have a live model with you to take this lesson. Because this lesson is not pre-recorded, you will be able to ask questions and receive personalized feedback on your technique.  This project is best for ages 5th through 8th grade who have an interest in art, but older children in the household are welcome to participate.

Supplies:
Must-have’s:

•    Several sheets of not-too-thin white paper (Pro Tip: use a 9” x 12” or larger “Bristol pad” or similar drawing paper from Preston’s)
•    Graphite pencil, charcoal, or chalk pastel  (Pro Tip: use “Conté crayons” from Preston’s)
•    A drawing board or a large book to place your paper on
