Art History Illustrated: “Iconoclasm: Art We’ve Lost to Extremism”

Thursday, May 26, 2022
6:30-7:30 PM

The intentional destruction of images is often a product of extreme ideology. In this talk, we’ll mourn the loss of our collective human cultural patrimony by visiting with the ghosts of art and architecture from such disparate contexts as the Byzantine Empire, the Protestant Reformation, the French Revolution, the Cultural Revolution in China, and the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Join us for our “Art History Illustrated” talk series, held the third* Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m. This monthly illustrated talk series is presented by Associate Professor Brenda Edgar of the Fine Art Department at Jefferson Community and Technical College, in partnership with the Carnegie Center for Art and History.

*This month’s program will be held on the fourth Thursday.
