Thursday Night Salon
Five by Five: Figure Painting

December 2, 2021
6-8 p.m.
Carnegie Center Galleries

Featuring a performance at 6:15pm by Cynthia Norton a.k.a. I – Cing

In this Thursday Night Salon, a group of Kentuckiana painters who work primarily with the figure – Debra Clem, LaNia Roberts, Patrick Smith, and Cynthia Norton – will come together around a table to present five images of their own work and five images of historical inspiration. Surrounded by the works of painter Debra Clem in the Carnegie main galleries, this casual presentation will be followed by a Q&A and discussion about ways of portraying identity in painting. Multimedia artist and painter Cynthia Norton will open up the evening at 6:15 pm with a musical performance as her alter ego, “I-Cing.” Complimentary wine and beverages will be served. Registration is required.

Thursday Night Salon is a free, public event on the first Thursday of every other month at 6 p.m. Set in the main galleries amidst the art exhibitions, this interactive series fosters a sense of community with a rotating program of conversations, performances, and active art-making.
