Attention educators! To serve students during distance learning, the Carnegie Center now offers a totally virtual Historian for a Day program with a custom website, videos, art activity, and live interactive storytelling session! Students learn about the Underground Railroad and discover the story of Lucy Higgs Nichols, a celebrated Civil War nurse who escaped enslavement. Based on our permanent exhibition, Remembered: The Life of Lucy Higgs Nichols, this experience is completely free.

If you are interested in offering this program to your students, email info@carnegiecenter.org.

Special thanks to Kertis Creative for their collaboration on this project. Thank you to our Youth Education Program sponsor Senior Source Insurance. Underground Railroad film editing funded by Caesars Foundation of Floyd County. In-kind donation provided by J&B Magic Shop.
